BIOGRAPHY
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on October 23, 1976, Ryan Reynolds worked extremely hard to get where he is today. The youngest of four children, Reynolds first appeared on television in 1990, playing Billy Simpson on the Nickleodeon series Fifteen.
After the show ended, Reynolds returned to Vancouver and worked on a few forgettable TV series and made-for-TV movies, including Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Disheartened and disappointed with his lack of quality roles, Reynolds considered leaving the acting profession altogether, but friend and fellow actor Chris Martin convinced him not to. The two moved to Los Angeles, initially living in a cheap motel before Reynolds caught a break in 1998 and landed a main part in the new sitcom Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place.

In 2002, Reynolds began dating Canadian singer Alanis Morissette. The two announced their engagement in June 2004. In February 2007, representatives for Morissette and Reynolds announced that they had mutually decided to end their engagement. Morissette's album Flavors of Entanglement was created out of her grief after the breakup.
Soon after the end of his relationship with Morissette, Reynolds began dating actress Scarlett Johansson in 2007 and the couple announced their engagement on May 5, 2008. They married on September 27, 2008, in a quiet ceremony near Tofino, British Columbia. On December 14, 2010, Reynolds and Johansson announced that they had separated and plan to divorce, saying in a joint statement, "After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage...We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it."
In October 2008, Reynolds wrote for The Huffington Post regarding his plan to run the New York City Marathon for his father, who suffers from Parkinson's Disease.
